Work on the restoration of the Anstice started on the 25th March for 27 weeks with an anticipated completion of mid November 2019. The contractor is Pave Aways Ltd from Oswestry. The site will operate from Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 5.30pm.
The downstairs of the Anstice is now taking shape with the most of the demolition work being completed. New steelwork has been installed and some old ceilings boarded up. Some of the old floors in the cellar were uneven and have had to be levelled to provide safe access. Exposed arches have been kept and incorporated into the library area. Currently, all the old services are being replaced, including a new electricity supply to serve the two retail units.
The new rear extension is nearly up to roof level. Once the roof is constructed, the curtain walling and lift will be brought on site to be installed.
A local company RS Salop have been appointed to restore the front windows. The downstairs windows are being repaired and repainted. The upper windows are in poor condition and need to be replaced. This involves a design that is more in keeping with the building, including reopening the top arches. Scaffolding will need to be erected at the front of the building to provide access to the upper windows.
The ballroom is being repainted and a new bar is going to be installed.
Work is well underway with the flat, with installation of new services and decoration.
Our contractor will try to keep any disturbance to a minimum. However, if there is a problem, please contact Pave Aways site manager, Tony Martin on 07738800344 or you can email email@example.com.
