Community Support Hot Line

Coronavirus ……     Information on new hot line available from Telford & Wrekin Council:

Dear Colleagues

Without doubt, the coronavirus has created the most challenging and difficult time for all of us.  Looking out for each other and being kind to one another has never been more necessary.  Seeing how communities have already come together is heartening but the need to reduce contact with each other will make this even more difficult.

Key to being well is for everyone to follow the NHS health information and advice which is being shared widely.  This is particularly important if you are aged 70 or over, have a long-term health condition, are pregnant or have a weakened immune system.

Avoiding unnecessary social contact means some people can’t go out to buy food or pick up medication.  It’s inevitable that many of us will need additional help and support over the coming weeks.  So whilst there is extraordinary community spirit we have launched our new Community Support Helpline.

Some of our more vulnerable residents will now need additional help over the coming weeks and months such as for shopping, collecting prescriptions, dog walking etc… In order to offer support we have established a new Community Support Helpline for those people who may not have family, friends or neighbours who are able to help them with these basic tasks.

The phone number to call is 01952 382030, lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am to 1pm until further notice.  People can also register for this support at any time on line at www.telford.gov.uk/isolationsupport.   If you or anyone in your community is concerned about a neighbour or friend who might need our support please don’t hesitate to get in touch either via phone or on line.
Please can you share information about our new community support line with your wider network of contacts and together we will ensure we look after the most vulnerable in our community.

Regards

Shaun
